POV – what a chaotic mess it can be. My first draft of HOST was in first-person. It was terrible. I had no clue what I was doing. I understood what POV was but in practice I clearly had no idea or how to use it correctly, if at all. My second draft I flipped it to third-person limited. Still a mess but it started to feel right for the story. I wanted to bounce between a couple characters from different view points with how the overall plot played out. An event can be seen, felt, and generate different reactions from different people. I wanted to capture that to build tension and conflict (hopefully I accomplished it). What one character sees as good, another may see as bad. Anyways, it was a great topic for Tim and I to chat about since we’d both gone through our own issues. Check out the episode below!
