March madness! And I’m not even talking about basketball. The weather is changing here in New England, sorta, right now it’s overcast, cold, and windy but we can taste Spring. It’s in the air and I can’t wait for it. But it’s not the only thing I’m excited about right now. Because…drumroll please…I just got the first completed pass of the audiobook version of HOST! My talented friend Mark Garkusha down in NYC wrapped up the initial recording. I’m spending the next week listening and reviewing. I’m about five chapters in and it’s awesome. I’m pumped and it’s fun to hear the story come to life in a different way. Once I finish doing my review and figuring out the distribution method, I’ll get it out there in the wild. Aiming to release it by the end of April, early May the latest. Been a long road to this point but excited with how it’s come out. So stay tuned for that.
What else is happening? I’m about 83% complete with the first draft of Zero Trust. The next novel that will pick up right after HOST. Originally, I planned for this to be a LiLo prequel story, but after getting into it, it made more sense to keep moving forward from the events of HOST. Keep that momentum up. It’ll follow two characters, LiLo, and a mysterious hitman on her tail. A couple characters from HOST will pop up but this is mostly a LiLo story and exploring her past, with a bigger picture backdrop that will connect to HOST and future stories. Can’t wait. I’m excited with what’s coming out of it, and a few surprises along the way, even for me, as I explored new characters. I’m planning to have the first draft done by the end of March (uh that’s like two weeks-ish), then I disappear for a week for vacation to refresh the brain, so when I get back it’ll be the real work of revisions. Aiming to have it out by the end of 2025.
Finally, HOST made it to a bookstore (and a library)! If you happen to be in or driving through Western Massachusetts, specifically Northampton, MA, check out Booklink Booksellers in Thorne’s Marketplace downtown Northampton. I dropped off a couple signed copies last week. Great way to support local bookstores and local authors. Hoping to get into more stores here in New England in 2025, but you can help too by requesting it.
And if you’re a Somerville Public Library cardholder (or in the Minuteman library network) you can now get HOST on ebook! If you want it at your local library simply request it.
You can also get a signed copy at Portico Brewing in Somerville, MA. I might even be there to pour you a beer! Cheers!
